Housing preservation in New York City: New York’s Housing and Preservation Department feared the loss of hundreds of thousands of units from the city’s subsidized rental stock. VIVA examined strengths and gaps in the capacity of the local affordable housing industry to inform the choice of strategy for identifying and preserving at-risk properties.
Foreclosure crisis in Massachusetts: How best to finance and restore blighted, foreclosed housing is a concern for government and CDCs nationwide. In Massachusetts, VIVA has assisted both: contributing research and analysis to statewide policies and programs as well as helping individual CDCs redevelop foreclosed homes.
Housing with services: Common Ground, which operates over 1500 units, wanted to examine how it could best share its experience beyond New York as a high-performing supportive housing manager. VIVA prepared a Regional Property Management and Technical Assistance Strategy.
