Supportive housing in Connecticut: A long-time leader in its field, the Corporation for Supportive Housing sought to identify key strategies for the operational health of properties serving the formerly homeless and other vulnerable populations. VIVA analyzed the performance of properties over a decade and worked with CSH to articulate the policy implications of the findings.
Serving frail elders in Boston’s public housing: Seeking to serve an increasingly frail senior population, the Boston Housing Authority considered developing an assisted living facility but feared the costs and risks. VIVA identified a cost-effective strategy better suited to the BHA’s capacity and its residents’ goals--bringing services to a greater number of existing buildings, allowing residents to age in place.
Transitioning public housing operations to an asset management model: Starting with the Public Housing Cost Study’s inquiry into the true cost of operating successful public housing, VIVA has participated in HUD’s efforts nationwide to implement a more decentralized, asset-based management model.
